in the John Muir Wilderness |
  This is a backcountry experience by horseback into the John Muir Wilderness out of Wishon or Courtright Lakes east of Fresno-Clovis. Take advantage of this unique opportunity to get CME's on wilderness emergency medicine actually in the wilderness. The class will be lead by Susanne J Spano, MD, an Emergency Physician, Wilderness Medicine Fellow and Clinical Instructor from the UCSF-Fresno Medical Education Program. Topics for Pack Trip Lectures include: Medical emergencies, building a first aid kit, rapid resuscitation/wilderness trama,bites/stings - practical management, altitude illness - HACE/HAPE, hypothermia - the cold hard facts and wilderness improvisation. Up to 10 CME units applied for through U.C.S.F and CRMC Fresno. Target audience is physicians, nurses and other first responders.  This is a full service horse pack trip leaving on Sunday July 18th 2010 and returning Friday July 23rd. Clyde Pack Outfit has been serving the public for the past 30 years. Sat, July 17th, - arrive evening to stay in a tent cabin at our headquarters located near Wishon and Courtright Lakes, See map on this web site. Sun. July 18th, depart, after light breakfast, on horseback to a preset lakeside camp in the John Muir Wilderness. The base camp will be located east of Courtright or Wishon Lakes, depending on snow conditions. Monday - Thursday, during breakfast education course in camp then enjoy local fishing and horseback riding to surrounding lakes with scenery you will never forget.  Friday, July 23rd. After breakfast, you saddle up, we load up your gear and return to trail head. (expect to arrive back late afternoon or early evening)Wilderness rules limit group size to 15, thus with 2 cooks, 2 wranglers, 1 wilderness medicine speaker, we are allowed up 10 participants. Gear you need - sleeping bag, clothing, personal gear, and fishing equip. If you have your own favorite tent ok, otherwise we have plenty. Click Here to Register |
